Scientific & Institutional Leader of Full Complex of Geophysics, Geodesy, RS-EO (Remote Sensing - Earth Observation), Astrophysics and Cosmoslogy... Director of the International Center for Earth Tides (1958-1995). President of the Commission of Earth Rotation of the International Astronomical Union IAU (1967-1970). President of CODATA (1974-1978). In 1968, Paul Melchior founded, with Johnny Flick, the Underground Laboratory of Walferdange in Luxembourg. In 1969, with Prof. Manfred Bonatz, they installed tiltmeters, gravimeters and a satellite camera in Spitzbergen (Norway). Thanks to his growing scientific reputation, the US Navy supported him to set up the first permanent Transit Satellite Doppler recording station in Europe, which operated until 1993. In 1973, his skillful and accurate interpretation of Earth tide gravity observations led the US Air Force to entrust his team to carry out Trans World Tidal Gravity Profiles. A total of 127 stations were observed worldwide for at least 6 months. "Fellow" of the American Geophysical Union in 1978. Professor at the Catholic University of Louvain. Professor of the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics of the Sinica Academy in China. Leader-Director (1981-1990) of Royal Observatory of Belgium - Basic Scientific Interest as Astronomer - Earth's rotation. Developer of Complete Theory of Motions of Earth's Rotational Axis and its Link to Earth's Tides. "The Father of Earth Tides". Foreign member of various scientific academies in Finland, Netherlands, Spain, and Romania. Founder and Developer of the European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology (ECGS) in Luxembourg... From 1973 to 1991, he served as Secretary General of International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), and was the Honorary Secretary General of IUGG until his death.

Niels Henrik David Bohr (7 October 1885 – 18 November 1962) Danish physicist who made fundamental contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum mechanics, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.[1] Bohr mentored and collaborated with many of the top physicists of the century at his institute in Copenhagen. He was part of a team of physicists working on the Manhattan Project. Bohr married Margrethe Nørlund in 1912, and one of their sons, Aage Bohr, grew up to be an important physicist who in 1975 also received the Nobel prize. Bohr has been described as one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century.[2]...
